愛立信在 2012 年世界通訊行動大會 (MWC) 上所揭示的內容,今年電信產業將有幾個重要趨勢,其中包含智慧型手機帶來數據海嘯的影響,LTE 與小細胞 (small cell) 的成熟運用,數位化生活下引發的多元溝通方式,使用者體驗倍受重視,網路優化的重要性日益劇增等現象,透過行動、寬頻與雲端這三股勢力,共同催生網路型社會成為現在進行式。

展望未來,資通訊技術正在以前所未有的速度融合,形成無所不在的「創造力網路」,為社會提供整合智慧化的公共基礎建設,進而徹底改變人們的溝通及生活方式,並推動跨領域與產業的創新。

行動+寬頻網路能力,奠立網路型社會主要基礎,改變人們的溝通與生活方式

HSPA的持續演進與成熟產業鏈的結合,提供了完美的用戶體驗,帶動全球行動寬頻用戶數在2011年達到10億左右,較2010年成長4億多。HSPA+ 21Mbps已經成為全球主流行動寬頻網路,商用HSPA+ 42Mbps網路也已增加至49個。HSPA+網路整體性能大幅提升,在很多場合已經能提供媲美甚至超越固網寬頻的用戶體驗。HSPA+結合提供超過3,200款終端的成熟產業鏈,尤其是涵蓋高、中、低端的智慧型手機及各種平板裝置,大力推動著行動產業與網際網路的融合。

HSPA與LTE的發展交相輝映,全球性的行動寬頻基礎建設將成形

3G時代,全球從首個試驗網路到第一個商用建置,花費整整3年的時間;HSPA技術從試驗到商用網路,則用了1年時間,而LTE的此一過程只耗時不到9個月。預計到2016年,WCDMA/HSPA網路將覆蓋超過全球 80% 人口(2011年為40%覆蓋率),而LTE網路也能達成近40%的人口覆蓋率。背後其實有一項重要設定基礎:LTE在過去所呈現出的快速建置態勢仍將延續,過去WCDMA/HSPA耗時10年才能達到的覆蓋面積與用戶數,LTE以7年時間就實現了。

行動網路應用成為網際網路創新與變化的主要戰場

隨著HSPA和LTE的加速發展,行動寬頻將成為主流。在2016年80多億行動用戶中(不包含M2M及其他連網設備),行動寬頻用戶數量將接近50億,其中超過40億是手持設備,其中又以智慧型手機為主,而行動PC及平板電腦的用戶數也將超過固網寬頻用戶數。智慧型手機與平板電腦,是資通訊技術加速融合的產物。終端硬體處理能力的提升與周邊應用程式開發體系的日益完備,將打破行動網路應用終端瓶頸,推動行動網路成為網際網路的主戰場。

雲端描繪網路型社會

2011年,雲端運算產業創新及關注焦點集中在針對消費者的雲端應用與服務。背後的主要驅動因素,是行動網際網路快速發展,所帶來的消費者隨時隨地「消費」需求。愛立信與Akamai 雙方合作的行動雲端加速解決方案(MCA:Mobile Cloud Accelerator)已經取得成效,顯著減少了在移動設備上70%的頁面所需的時間。

越來越多的消費者同時擁有多個終端設備,他們希望在使用任何終端連網時,身份能夠被識別而無需多次重複登錄。不論透過固定或行動的連結方式,他們期望整合網路不需要分辨其中差別,不管應用的複雜程度為何,都能提供用戶相同的高品質服務。能支援這些需求的,將是跨終端的統一的環境,亦即某種雲端服務。愛立信認為雲端運算包括三項要素:運算、儲存與網路。這三項要素的發展程度有所不同,但最終目標都是降低其總和成本,亦即降低雲端運算費用,進而減少網路型社會的創新成本。

數位化生活程度提高,帶動溝通方式更多元

愛立信消費者行為研究室(Consumer Lab)調查發現,消費者對網路的依賴持續加深,數位化生活趨勢更加明顯。越來越多的消費者全年無休保持網路與手機連結,比以往任何時候都更加依賴網路。全球40%的智慧型手機用戶,在未起床之前就開始造訪網際網路。台灣智慧型手機使用現況研究更指出,通勤時段是台灣智慧型手機用戶一天內的使用高峰。超過60%台灣地區的智慧型手機用戶,在通勤途中會使用手機玩線上遊戲、聽音樂、收發電子郵件等。台灣民眾看電視同時會利用最隨手可得的工具,如手機瀏覽網頁、使用社群網站或部落格、線上聊天或講電話等。

迎接數據海嘯,智慧管道與多層次異質網路打造最佳使用者體驗

行動寬頻大規模建置、智慧終端設備普及、上層應用完備發展的三大因素帶動行動數據流量爆炸式成長。全球2011年智慧型手機總流量相比前年成長約兩倍,2016年時行動數據流量將較2010年成長10倍。屆時,來自智慧型手機等行動終端的數據流量,將與來自PC及平板電腦的數據流量相當。面對此一挑戰,愛立信認為網路本身,就是營運商最主要及最具競爭力的資產,因此強化網路本身能力,增強型智慧管道(註1)與多層次異質網路 (註2)將成為營運商的自然選擇。

智慧管道是營運商開展流量經營的基礎,並已經取得業界共識。過去兩年,營運商已經展開建置策略與計費控制(PCC)功能。為了進一步提升使用者的數據服務體驗,需要考慮增強型智慧管道:針對多連結網路的整合策略控制及內容的加速(CDN)。智慧管道有效識別來自不同連結方式,例如,WiFi或是固網及行動寬頻網路的數據數據流量,藉以實現數據流量的可管控與合理分流承載,提供內容暫存與加速等功能,減少內容傳送時間並提昇使用者感受,同時也能降低了營運商傳遞成本。

多層次異質網路(Heterogeneous Networks),針對使用者密集的熱點地區,透過多項無線技術、無線架構與回傳技術的整合使用與彈性組網,有效提昇在不同無線環境下的數據服務效能,以確保使用者服務體驗,無論位於不同的無線社區位置(尤其是各無線社區邊緣)及不同時段,都能保持穩定。
